EXTENDED RANGE COURSES

SSI Extended Range programs are designed to take your diving to the next level. Whether you are looking for the excitement of deep diving, pushing the limits of recreational diving, significantly extending your bottom time, or enjoying the thrill of exploring deep reefs, wrecks and caves.

Extended Range Diving opens up a variety of aquatic environments, increases the limits of your diving depth, extends your bottom times and trains you in new procedures.

EXTENDED RANGE NITROX

This program provides the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and conduct limited decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters and nitrox mixes up to 50%.

It is the introduction to Extended Range training techniques and skills and can be completed by wearing standard single cylinder equipment.

EXTENDED RANGE – TRIMIX

The SSI Extended Range Diving program qualifies you to dive to a depth of 45 meters using Nitrox mixtures up to 100%.

The programme can be done with your standard Total Diving System, a large scuba tank with an H or Y valve or even a complete Twinset.

TECHNICAL EXTENDED RANGE – TRIMIX

The objective of the SSI Technical Extended Range Diving programme is to train divers, together with their equally qualified dive buddy and specialised equipment, to independently plan and execute dives to a depth of 50m (60m when using Trimix), with two gas changes and multiple decompression stops.

The objective of the SSI Technical Extended Range Diving programme is to train divers, together with their equally qualified dive buddy and specialised equipment, to independently plan and execute dives to a depth of 50m (60m when using Trimix), with two gas changes and multiple decompression stops.

Requirements: Minimum logged dives: 70 dives, 20 dives deeper than 30 meters, Minimum 10 dives with accelerated decompression and at least one gas change.


At least one of the following certifications:
Extended Range, Full Cave Diving, Technical Wreck Diving.
A medical certificate may be requested.

HYPOXIC TRIMIX

This is the pinnacle of technical diving. Here you will need all your knowledge, skills, equipment and experience from all previous trainings and push your limits to the extreme.

There are 2 routes: one will take you to 80 meters, the other to 100 meters, using the same Extended Range Total Diving System that you mastered the previous programmes with.

However, you will use at least 3 stages for decompression and travel gases.

HMS Aldenham belonged to the British Navy, the last destroyer. It sank in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea at the end of World War II.

It was completely broken in half and both parts were sinking fast – the first part was turned forward and went straight down, while the back part floated nicely on the water with the screws still turning.

Requirements: 100 logged dives, 30 dives deeper than 30 metres, 10 dives deeper than 45 metres, 20 dives with accelerated decompression with at least two gas changes.


Minimum certification: Technical Extended Range.
A medical certificate may be requested.

EXTENDED RANGE WRECK DIVING

This programme provides you with the knowledge and skills required to plan and conduct independent limited penetration dives in wreck overhead environments.

You will learn how to use specialised buoyancy and fin stroke techniques, set a safety line and the correct use of lights while diving with a standard or extended range equipment configuration.

This program allows unlimited decompression wreck penetration to a maximum depth of 60 meters (during training dives).

Like the other overhead programmes, this one requires the highest level of skills in buoyancy, fin stroke techniques, line laying and the correct use of the torch.

You will learn about lost lines, lost lights, gas sharing and lost diver procedures.

The SSI Cavern Diving course teaches you how to use cave diving equipment, gas management concepts and buddy team skills to conduct safe cave dives. With certification, you can conduct cave dives in the light zone above 40m depth. From the grandest cenote to the most expansive cavern, as a cave diver you can experience it all.
